Symbol of castle town Gyoda is Mizuki Park and Osijo

Osijo is the restored third floor tower. Currently it is a museum and the 4th floor on the top floor is an observatory. Please enter from the Osijo museum.

Osijo of the castle town Gyoda who was the stage of the movie "Nobou no siro" is said to have been built by Masayasu Narita,
He is a clan named Mr. Uesugi Yamauchi, ancient  year (1469 to 1486).
It was counted as one of Kanto Seven Majyo castle .
Oota castle(Ibaraki prefecture), Utsunomiya castle (Tochigi prefecture), Karasawa Yamashiro (Tochigi), Kanayama castle (Gunma), Maebashiro (Gunma), Osijo (Saitama), Kawagoe castle (Saitama).

In 1590, at the battle of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Mr. Hojo Odawara , I will receive a drown atack of water by Ishida Mitsunari et al.
Although this  atack ended in failure.
 It was a castle in another form, but it became a catchphrase with "Ukisironomati Gyoda" and remained in the present.

Although it may sound self-destructive, 'Ukisiro' comes from Osijo which was flooded.

With this battle, Mr. Narita's 100 years of control ended, it became a possession of Ieyasu Tokugawa.
After that, Mr. Matsudaira, Mr. Abe became the castle owner, and over the long years of 184, he dominated the "Osi 100,000 Goku".

Even in the Meiji Restoration, I ran away from the war.
"Haihantiken" created "Osi" prefecture, and the prefectural government center was established in "Ninomaru".
It is said that it was auctioned and dismantled in Meiji 6.
I can not believe it from now on, but it was such a time back then.

城下町行田のシンボル  水城公園　忍城

復元された御三階櫓。現在は資料館になっていて最上階の4階は展望台になっています。郷土博物館から入ってください。

映画「Nobouの城」の舞台となった城下町行田の「忍城（おしじょう）」は、古く文明年間（1469～1486）に山内上杉氏配下の豪族成田親泰が築城したとされ、関東七名城【太田城（茨城県）、宇都宮城（栃木県）、唐沢山城（栃木県）、金山城（群馬県）、前橋城（群馬県）、忍城（埼玉県）、川越城（埼玉県）】の一つに数えられました。

1590年、豊臣秀吉と小田原北条氏の戦い（小田原の役）で、石田三成らによる水攻めを受けます。

この水攻めは失敗に終わり、別の形で開城するわけですが、「浮き城の町　行田」とのキャッチフレーズとなって今に残りました。

自虐的に聞こえるかもしれないけど、「浮き城」とは水攻めされた忍城に由来しているのですね。

この戦いにより、成田氏100年の支配が終焉し、徳川家康の持ち城となりました。

以後、松平氏を経て阿部氏が城主となり、184年の長きに渡って忍10万石を支配しました。

明治維新でも戦火を逃れ、廃藩置県により二の丸に忍県の県庁がおかれましたが、明治6年に、なんと競売されて解体されてしまったそうです。

今から考えれば信じられないことですが、当時はそんな時代でしたよね。
