Q. When have you been doing?
A. From the age of 1955 when production of "Yosizu" became popular,

Q. What is the purpose?
A. Beginning with the aim of eliminating disease pests, we cultivate good quality "yoshi" which is a raw material for "Yoshizu".
In addition, by burning the dead "Yoshi", a rich wetland environment such as a new "Yoshi" bud creation is protected.
As a result, it was registered in the Ramsar Convention as a precious wetland environment around the world.
Fire caused by dead "Yoshi-hara" is also difficult to extinguish, and it also has an effect on fire countermeasures.

Q. What is the environmental preservation effect of "Yoshi-Yaki"?
A. There are two great effects on environmental preservation of Yoshi-Yaki.
One is giving opportunities to grow plants of many plants in the spring by burning the dead "yoshi".
Plants such as "Exciseli", "Tonanehayasuri" will grow and flower and fruit before "Yoshi" becomes larger.
Many of the endangered species that have been confirmed at the Watarase-yuusuichi area will sprout earlier this spring.

ヨシ焼き基礎知識
Q.い つ 頃 か ら行 わ れ て い ます か ？
A.ヨ シ ズ 生 産が 盛 ん に な った 昭 和 30 年 代 頃 か ら 良 質 な ヨ シ を育 成 す る た め行 わ れ てい ま す 。
Q.目 的 は ？
A.も と も と ヨシ ズ の 原 材 料と な る 良 質 な ヨ シを 育 て る た め 、病 害虫 の 駆 除 を目 的 と して 始 め ら れ ま し た。
ま た 、枯れ た ヨ シ を 焼 く こと に よ り 、新 た なヨ シ な ど の 芽 生 えが あ り 豊 かな 湿 地 環境 が 守 ら れ て い ます 。こ の こ と に より 、世 界 的 に も 貴重 な 湿 地 環境 と し てラ ム サ ー ル 条 約 に登 録 さ れ ま し た 。枯 れ た ヨ シ 原 で の火 災 は 消 火も 困 難 であ り 野 火 対 策 に も効 果 が あ り ま す 。
Q.ヨ シ 焼 き によ る 環 境 保 全効 果 は ？
A.ヨ シ 焼 き の環 境 保 全 上 の効 果 は 大 き く 分 けて 二 つ あ り ま す 。
一 つ は 、立 ち 枯 れ た ヨ シ を焼 く こ と に よ り 、春 に 多 く の 植 物 の芽 生 え の 機会 が 与 えら れ ま す 。エ キ サイ ゼ リ 、ト ネ ハ ナヤ ス リ な ど の 植 物は ヨ シ が 大き く な る前 に 生 長 し 、花 や実 を つ け ま す 。渡良 瀬 遊 水 地 で 確 認さ れ た 絶 滅危 惧 種 の多 く は 、 こ の 春 先に 芽 を 出 し ま す 。
も う 一 つは 、樹 林 化 を 防 ぐと い う も の で す 。発 芽 し た 若 い ヤ ナギ な ど は ヨシ 焼 き に よ り 焼 か れ る た め 現 在 の よ う な 広 大 な ヨ シ 原 が 維 持 さ れ て い ます 。
Q.焼 く 面 積 は？
A.渡 良 瀬 遊 水地 の お お む ね半 分 の 1,500ha で す 。
Q.誰 が 焼 く の？
A.渡 良 瀬 遊 水 地 の ヨ シ の 育 成 や 自 然 環 境 を 保 全 す る た め に は 必 要 な ヨ シ 焼き で あ り「渡 良 瀬 遊 水 地 ヨシ 焼 き 連 絡 会（ 周 辺自 治 体・関 係 機 関・管 理 者 ）」が 主 催 で行 い ま す が、現 地 で ヨ シ 焼 き を 行 うの は 、従 来 か ら ヨシ 焼 き を 実 施し て い てそ の 技 術 を 持 っ てい る 地 元 の 人 々 が中 心 と な り 行 い ます 。
